And Here's What's New At Flotilla 14-8

Posted by FSO-CS Paul Burns, Latest Website Modifications & Updates

1/11/2010 What's New with the 14-8 website? Just about everything. A complete makeover has taken place. Although many of the pages look pretty much the same, every single page has been taken apart and re-worked. I think that you will find the site works faster, without many of the glitches that seemed to pop up with the 2009 version.  Some Changes include:
       - New Navigation Buttons on the left
       - USCGAux Google Search box at the bottom left of every page. Results from these searches only come from
         Coast Guard Auxiliary webpages
       - A new Flotilla Calendar accessed from the "Members Section"
       - A slightly wider page designed for a more functional look on 90% of the country's computer screens.

A new Mission Activity Form 7029h as well as a Mission Activity Worksheet will make it easier for you to report your Auxiliary Time. A video is also included to help. Go to the Flotilla Information Systems Webpage for more information.

Posted 2/4/09 By FC Jeff Blomgren: FSO Meeting Monday February 9th, Stellar Bldg

Just a reminder that our FSO meeting will be on Monday February 9, 2009 beginning at 7 pm at the Stellar Building. We need to come up with a budget, calendar, training action plan, PE focus, APC training session, mentoring, recruiting, crew, etc.  Bring your thoughts with you.

Thanks you all for your help with the first meeting of 2009.  You were all right on the mark and I appreciate what you have accomplished so far.

Posted 1/26/09 by FSO-CS Paul Burns:  Our New Website!

If you are reading this message, than you already know that we have a new flotilla website. Last October, the 7th  District announced that it was working toward a goal to "Standardize" websites across the District, giving them a similar look, graphics and navigational links. Flotilla 14-8 is one of the first in the District to adopt the new format.

I'm sure that the first thing that you noticed was that we have a Public Section and a Members Section. In our Members Section you should find many links and tools to get all the necessary information to enhance your Coast Guard Auxiliary experience.

If you see errors or changes that need to be made, please point them out to me. If you have ideas or material to offer and share with the rest of the Flotilla, by all means don't keep it to yourself. Send Email Here. Check back frequently as right now new information and changes are happening almost daily. If you see the date has changed on the homepage, then something inside has changed.

Posted 1/20/09 by FC Jeff Blomgren: Attention All Boat Crew Ops Candidates

Claire Bailey has found a class that may be of interest to members interested in boat crew.

There is an AUXWEA (weather) course being offered Mondays and Wednesdays beginning February 9 thru March 23 starting at 7 pm at the meeting location of 14-1 which is Amelia Island Lighthouse, 12755 Jeb Island Road in Fernandina.  There is no cost for these sessions but you will need to sign up and make sure there is room.

John Russette has generously offered to drive his vehicle to these training sessions for 14-8 members.  The contact person for these classes is Bob Sperry bcdsp@netscape.net You will need to register with him and contact John Russette to arrange transportation if you will be riding with him russette@nova.edu
